TACOMA, Wash. – The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has teamed with Northwest Harvest for the Home Team Harvest 2015 campaign that encourages fans to bring nonperishable food items to the State Football Gridiron Classic on Saturday, Dec. 5 beginning at 7 a.m.
Fans bringing food items can drop off their donations at the LeMay Car Museum located adjacent to the Tacoma Dome.
“The WIAA is proud to work with Northwest Harvest to raise hunger awareness,” WIAA Executive Director Mike Colbrese said. “The Association is committed to Northwest Harvest’s motto of ‘Hunger Stops Here’ and encourages fans to bring nonperishable food items at the State Football Championships.”
Home Team Harvest, in its 15th year, raised the equivalent of 4.6 million meals last year and looks to eclipse the five million mark in 2015. In the first 14 years, Home Team Harvest has provided over 25 million meals. With one-in-eight Washingtonians struggling with hunger, most of the food donated is served to senior citizens and children.
