Position: Junior High Head Track Coach
Contracted By: Valley Christian School
Time Required: March to June
Responsible To: VCS Athletic Director
Stipend: $1725
Valley Christian School has a great tradition of track and field. Our Junior High have been blessed that both our boys’ and girls’ participation numbers have been fantastic as feeder programs. We are set up for continued success and need the right leader to make it happen. This is a great opportunity to minister to an amazing group of athletes and continue the tradition of great JH and HS track teams at Valley Christian.
Responsibilities are but not limited to:
1. Committed Christian Life/Testimony-strong Christian mentorship and sportsmanship ability.
2. Passion to work with young people and positively assist adolescent development.
3. Assumes responsibility for the entire High School Cross Country Program as the Head Coach for VCS.
4. Be on time and available for all meets and practices (weekday and weekend meets, weekday practices).
5. Proactively communicate well, orally and written, to Athletes, Parents, and AD in conjunction with other coaches (Regular use of Team Snap).
6. Must be organized and develop an effective meet competition and practice plan with other coaches.
7. Provide athletes with fundamental skills and strategies within department-wide goals.
8. Ability to promote teamwork and motivate student-athletes through competition.
9. Help motivate athletes to maintain academic achievement.
10. Works closely with the Athletic Director and other Coaches in preparation and maintenance of fields, track, locker rooms, and storage areas.
11. Participate in parent meetings. Communicate vision, goals, and philosophy clearly with other VCS Coaches.
12. Ability to drive a passenger van when required.
13. Read, understand, and support the mission and Core Values of Valley Christian School.
14. Attend coaching clinics and classes to maintain WIAA coaching credentials
15. Support and follow the parent/student handbook, athletics handbook, WIAA handbook, and NFHS rules
and regulations handbook.
16. Performs other duties as assigned by the AD.
Qualifications:
Committed Born Again Christian Life and Testimony with a Biblical Worldview
Varsity coaching and track experience desired
Agreement with VCS Coaching Contract and Addendum
First Aid/CPR Certified (or willing to acquire)
Fingerprint/Background Clearances
Valid Driver’s License
