Position: Head HS Track and Field Coach
Location Valley Christian School, Spokane WA
Description Position: Head High School Track Coach
Contracted by: Valley Christian School
Report to: VCS Athletic Director
Dates: March-May 2027
Stipend: $3890 plus small bonuses for playoffs

Valley Christian School has a history of track and field excellence. Having won () state championships and placing at a number more, we are looking for a strong leader that can build on the foundation we currently have and continue to grow our program. With over half of the high school student body currently in the program, it is a great opportunity to impact a number of student-athletes’ lives, both on and off the track. With one of the only tracks in our district for the 1B classification, we are able to host a number of meets giving our athletes less travel while creating great team memories. It is a program that will hope will continue to compete at the highest levels of state.

Responsibilities are but not limited to:
1. Committed Christian Life/Testimony-Providing strong Christian mentorship and sportsmanship ability.
2. Passion to work with young people and positively assist adolescent development.
3. Assumes responsibility for the entire program which includes:
a. Coaching the Varsity squad and supervising assisting coaches
b. Develop a vision for the program and implement it throughout VCS
4. Be on time and available for all meets and practices (weekday and weekend meets, weekday practices).
5. Proactively communicate well, orally and written, to Athletes, Parents, and Athletic Director ( Use of Team Snap).
6. Must be organized and develop an effective meet competition and practice plan.
7. Provide athletes with fundamental skills and strategies within department-wide goals.
8. Ability to promote teamwork and motivate student-athletes through competition.
9. Keep track of athletic equipment and uniforms issued and systematically return all equipment at the finish
of the season.
10. Monitor athletic eligibility and motivate athletes to maintain academic achievement.
11. Works closely with the Athletic Director in preparation and maintenance of fields, track, locker rooms, and
storage areas.
12. Help coordinate and attend athletic fundraisers.
13. Conduct parent meetings. Communicate vision, goals, and philosophy clearly.
14. Coordination of the Track Athletic awards banquet.
15. Ability to drive a passenger van when required.
16. Read, understand, and support the mission and Core Values of Valley Christian School.
17. Support and follow the parent/student handbook, athletics handbook, WIAA handbook, and NFHS rules
and regulations handbook.
18. Performs other duties as assigned by AD.

Qualifications:
Committed Born Again Christian Life and Testimony
A Mature Biblical Worldview
Varsity level coaching and track experience
Participation in coaching clinics and classes to maintain WIAA coaching credentials
Agreement with VCS Coaching Contract and Addendum
First Aid/CPR Certified
Fingerprint/Background Clearances
Valid Driver’s License
