Job Title: College Place High School Boys Basketball Head Coach Reports to: Athletic Director Bargaining Group: WWVEA Coaches FLSA Status: NA Benefits: NA Leave: NA Season: Winter Season 2026-27 Stipend Amount: $6,500- $7,993 depending on verified experience Anticipated Start Date: 11/17/2026 POSITION SUMMARY: College Place High School is seeking a highly motivated, relationship-centered, and competitive leader to serve as the Head Boys Basketball Coach. The district is seeking a coach who will build a complete basketball program rooted in student development, strong culture, accountability, and competitive excellence. This position is an opportunity to help shape the future of basketball at a growing 1A high school in the Walla Walla Valley. The successful candidate will be expected to develop student-athletes both on and off the court while building strong connections with students, families, youth programs, and the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the CP Way and will work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and administration to build a program characterized by belonging, growth, discipline, teamwork, and pride. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Lead and oversee all aspects of the high school boys basketball program ? Develop and communicate a clear vision and philosophy for the program ? Build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, staff, officials, and community members ? Promote high expectations for character, academics, sportsmanship, attendance, and citizenship ? Organize and supervise practices, contests, offseason development, and summer programming ? Coordinate and align program expectations with middle school and youth basketball opportunities ? Recruit, supervise, and support assistant coaches within the program ? Support multi-sport participation while helping increase student involvement in basketball ? Maintain compliance with all WIAA, district, league, and school expectations ? Effectively communicate program information and expectations with athletes and families ? Foster a safe, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture ? Model professionalism, integrity, and positive leadership at all times DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ? Previous successful basketball coaching experience preferred ? Head coaching and/or varsity assistant experience preferred ? Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students and families ? Knowledge of player development, skill instruction, and program organization ? Ability to develop and sustain a positive team culture ? Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills ? Knowledge of WIAA rules, regulations, and expectations preferred ? Teaching certificate or ability to serve in a classified support role preferred but not required PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS: The ideal candidate will: ? Emphasize player development, accountability, and team-first leadership WORKING CONDITIONS: ? Evening and weekend responsibilities required during season and offseason activities ? Travel required for practices, competitions, camps, and league events ?
